Topography:
Flat: transition from coastal to the piedmont area of State of Maryland, Mixed: urban to the west and agricultural research station to the east and sout east.
Climate:
Climate is cotrolled by west-northwesterly flow of cold temperatues in the winter and high pressure to the south in the summer. This is also moderated by the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The daily mean temperature is about 13°C ranging from around 1°C in January to about 25°C in July. Average precipitation (near the station) I about 106 cm annually (1971–2000) and may recive about 56cm in snowfall.
